How My Body Was Affected By The Evolution Of Childbirth

After giving birth, women undergo different and surprising changes in their physical state, many of them will wonder what happens to the body after giving birth. Knowing all this transformation well will be very helpful so it doesn’t catch you off guard.

The evolution of the body during childbirth

the belly decreases

One of the significant changes we’ll notice first will be the shrinkage of the belly. Thanks to the work of the contractions, the difference will become evident as the belly shrinks.

What is certain is that we cannot expect to be as before in a short period of time, as it will depend a lot on each woman’s body and constitution. But, without a doubt, with a good diet and some exercise we will be able to recover, until we reach the beginning of pregnancy.

the sweat

A curious thing that happens to the body during childbirth is excess sweating. Why does it happen? Don’t be scared, it’s nothing alarming, on the contrary, it’s a symptom that our body is eliminating all the fluids accumulated up to that moment.

During pregnancy and until childbirth, there is an accumulation of water in the body and tissues, which must be eliminated later.  The body’s way of eliminating these fluids is through sweat and urine. It is therefore necessary to replace the lost fluids by drinking water.

The feet

During pregnancy, as mentioned above, a large amount of fluid accumulates. This is something normal that happens to the body during this period, and it is eliminated little by little.

That’s why we notice how our feet go from being very swollen and large, due to edema, to becoming little by little smaller. We will also regain the shape our feet were in before pregnancy, although this does not mean that we will quickly wear a high-heeled shoe, as this will in no way favor our circulation.

the streaks

The hated stretch marks appeared during pregnancy and it is almost impossible to prevent them completely, although it is correct that they can be controlled with the help of different treatments.

After delivery, these streaks on the breasts, stomach and hips will change color and lighten over time.

what happens to my hair

Usually another big change also takes place in the body during childbirth: hair loss. Just as we’ve noticed that during pregnancy our hair grows rapidly due to increased estrogen and an excess of blood supply, just the opposite happens after childbirth.

We will notice that we are left with less amount of hair and that this will fall out in abundance, especially between two and five months after giving birth. However, to reassure the mothers, about a year after the birth we will have the usual volume and growth again.

Positive changes in your skin

During pregnancy, the skin undergoes major changes, such as  pimples, acne or blemishes on the face, known as chloasma.

However, there is something positive that happens to our body after childbirth: the skin is improving little by little and regaining luminosity, giving way to smooth and even skin.

A big change in breasts

One thing that also happens to the body at birth and after birth is the transformation of our breasts. During every pregnancy we observe the increase in size, but this change in the postpartum period is especially noticeable.

When giving birth, there is an increase in milk and, as a result, the breasts will become more inflamed and even with more volume. Changes will also occur in the nipples and areolas, which will change shape and color.

The nails

During pregnancy you will notice, as with your hair, that your nails have grown and become strong; however after giving birth, they will be brittle and flaky.

The joy in the balance

Moms will notice that the body gained a lot of weight during the birth, and that in the first few days those pounds will drop quickly, but don’t be too deluded, as it soon becomes a period of stagnation in which it will take a little effort to get back to normal.
