Don’t Skip Steps!

Child development is a topic that requires a lot of attention; in particular, because it represents fundamentally important steps for the strengthening of affective bonds and to ensure the child’s healthy growth. Pay attention to the fulfillment of your child’s growth phases and make sure you haven’t skipped any of them.

Many specialists have determined that the first stage of development, that is, the one that takes place in the first months of life, is the fundamental part for the baby to reach its full psychological, physical and emotional formation. In this sense, it is recommended not to skip the stage corresponding to the first twelve months of life.

When talking about phases, we must consider that the promoter of this idea was the Swiss psychologist Jean Piaget. According to this specialist, the structure that supports human thought is directly linked to the social conditions in which a person develops from an early age.

In this sense, Piaget proposed that each cognitive ability is specific to a certain age of the child.

Finally, different issues and circumstances may differ depending on their stage of development; to prove this, he revealed the results of tests he made with children by age groups.

So, the changes that the baby experiences in an actually short period, vary according to its size, weight and cognitive evolution. Not skipping the stage in which the child shows his personality and begins intellectual development is a guarantee that the results are the desired ones or at least are important.

From 12 to 24 months

This discontinuous period gives us a lot of information about the child’s behavior, in addition, it is the time to consolidate the marks of his personality. In the first twelve months, which for any adult could be almost imperceptible, the child goes from being a totally helpless baby to becoming an independent being to express his feelings and emotions. Furthermore, it is capable of opposing or expressing interests in various circumstances.

When the baby is more than 24 months old, it progressively starts to stop being almost incomprehensible to the parents. This allows him to be identified as a small being of defined qualities. This period of the first two years, progresses through different processes in which they start to learn the basic elements of existence and coexistence, until reaching the foundations of the next stage.

Consequently, each process of evolution, designed to bring the baby through its first years, needs to be completed and carefully observed. Prevent your child from advancing to other stages without having correctly completed the first one,  so that in this way the integral being that he will become in the future is strengthened.

The steps, month by month without rest

Saying that the first stage of child development is the most important does not imply that the others are not or are less important. This means that it is mainly due to the fact that babies change every day, which means that the attention given to each period is different.

Another aspect to be considered in the month to month experienced by your baby is that not all personalities are the same. This implies that although the theory that arrives through our senses is applied, it is often necessary to improvise in order to avoid skipping steps in the integral development of the little ones.

This situation is part of the main attention that we parents must have, because it is equivalent to the balance with which education is conducted. For example, it is okay to speed up the step of a step, nor is it recommended to prolong your progress. Each baby responds at its own pace and has a different kind of intelligence. If we are careful and observe precisely, we can create a harmonic process.

It is about meeting the needs of each period, this you can achieve by informing yourself well, and above all, following your heart. Learn to listen and understand your baby to give him the right encouragement, but most of all, remember that saying no is often necessary for everyone’s sake.

As responsible mothers, we must meet the commitment to start a vital process for our families, since with each process completed, we get a little closer to the fundamentals of the man or woman we want to form to be a social, conscious, healthy and integral being .
