4 Desserts Without Chocolate For Kids

Whether because of allergies or personal taste, chocolate doesn’t always have to be the main ingredient in children’s desserts. There are many options to replace it, and in this article we will present four examples.

There are several options to replace chocolate in children’s desserts. Sometimes  we don’t have this ingredient at home or we simply want to get out of the rut.

The search for a chocolate substitute may also be necessary due  to overweight, thus trying to avoid its consumption or even because of illnesses or allergies.

Four desserts without chocolate

Regardless of your reason for not eating chocolate for dessert, in this article, we’ll introduce you to some chocolate-free recipes for kids. Several include fruits, dairy products, cereals, nuts and other healthy and nutritious ingredients.

The classic ice cream is an excellent opportunity  for the child to consume this beneficial dairy product.

Ingredients:

  • 4 yogurts, natural flavor
  • 200 ml of sour cream
  • Condensed milk (approximately 4 tablespoons)
  • To decorate: cherry or mint leaves

Preparation mode:

  • In a bowl, beat the cream with an electric mixer on high speed and add the yogurt. Add the condensed milk, stirring it with a spatula so as not to reduce the volume of the mixture.
  • Put this mixture in another covered glass container and place in the freezer for approximately two and a half hours.
  • Serve the portions in individual pots and decorate to taste. 

Oatmeal cookies

This is one of the  most delicious desserts without chocolate for children. The advantage is that it does not contain any fat.

Ingredients:

  • 230 g of oat flakes
  • 100 g of wheat flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 150 g of brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of yeast
  • a bit of salt
  • 150 ml of oil
  • a teaspoon of vanilla essence
  • 1/2 teaspoon of powdered cinnamon

Preparation mode:

  • In a container,  place and mix the dry ingredients:  oats, sugar, yeast, salt and cinnamon.
  • In another, mix the liquid ingredients: olive oil, eggs and vanilla essence. Combine both mixtures in a single container. Then make balls with your hands, kneading them to form discs of the desired size.
  • Place on a baking tray at  180º C for 15 minutes  or until edges lightly brown.
  • Allow the cookies to dry on a rack so they harden and are ready to eat!

Jelly of various colors

A colorful, refreshing and nutritious dessert.

Ingredients:

  • 4 different colored jelly packets
  • Unflavored gelatin
  • 1/2 cup of condensed milk

Preparation mode:

  • Prepare the four gelatins separately with less water than indicated on the packets,  approximately one third less. This is done to give consistency faster. Then set aside.
  • Prepare the unflavored gelatin as indicated on the package. Add condensed milk. Again, reserve. That way there will be five gelatin colors.
  • In a glass container, place any of the gelatins, until it is approximately 1 cm high. Place in refrigerator and wait for consistency, 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Carefully place a gelatin of another color on top of the previous one. You can tilt the container a little when adding the gelatin to not damage the gelatin underneath.
  • Wait for a consistency in the fridge and add the same amount of another color. And so on  successively by layers until all colors are used. 

It is recommended to  serve the next day, when the gelatin will be firmer.

Hardly any child can resist a donut with a delicious filling or topping. Within the list of chocolate-free desserts, this is undoubtedly one of the favorites. 

Ingredients:

  • 300 g of wheat flour
  • 15 g of yeast
  • 80 g of sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons of melted butter
  • 250 ml of water
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt

Preparation mode:

  • Sift the all-purpose flour into a bowl, and mix it with the sugar, yeast and salt. Make a hole in the middle and place the butter and eggs inside. Mix well until the dough is smooth. 
  • Add water and keep stirring. When it hardens, start kneading and when the dough is no longer sticky, make a ball. Let the dough rest in a covered container for approximately one hour. In the end, it will have doubled in size.
  • Put the dough on a clean table and roll it out until it is approximately 1.5 cm thick. Cut the dough into circles with a cutter, edged object, or glass. Let it sit for half an hour.
  • Fry the batter in hot oil until golden or place in the oven at 200º C  for approximately 15 minutes.

A piece of advice: donuts can be filled with whipped cream, fruit jelly, or they  can be bathed in sugar, syrup or frosting. 

These  chocolate-free desserts for kids can be accompanied by still drinks  as they are a perfect match. Plus, they’re great because you can call your kids to help prepare, so they’ll learn how to use the kitchen utensils and everyone will have fun together.
